Broadcast RF deploy Vislink HCAM UHD Wireless Camera Systems

The first of the 28 Vislink HCAM UHD/HEVC ultra low delay wireless camera systems have been delivered to Broadcast RF, two of which were deployed at the weekend for their first outing on a live OB.

Telegenic and BT Sports allowed BRF to put the system through its paces at the Womens Super League match, Chelsea v Arsenal at the Kingsmeadow Stadium on Sunday 7th January 2018.

The UHD wireless camera system comprised of a Sony PMW-F55 which provided 4K UHD video, and controlled with the normal Sony camera control ‘racking’ system. The UHD RF system worked into the existing wireless camera infrastructure and operated exactly like a normal touchline camera.

“We have 28 HCAM HEVC wireless camera systems on order, and to see one operational in a live environment was brilliant this weekend. The UHD pictures in the truck looked fantastic, so good that at one point it even had a stint as an 18 yard camera which completely exceeded our expectations on its first outing,” Chris Brandrick, Broadcast RF Commercial Director stated.

“We’d like to thank Telegenic and BT Sports for allowing us to test this, and look forward to another outing next weekend at Wembley for the Tottenham v Everton match live on BT Sports,” Brandrick concluded.

Martyn Edwards, Telegenic OB Unit Manager for the match commented: “Having evaluated the UHD RF camera during our rig day, I had no hesitation in offering the UHD wireless camera output to the match director to be included in the live cut.
