All relevant STC and EASA aviation approvals are available for both our fixed wing and helicopter relay solutions and have been tried and tested on some of the world largest live sporting events.
In addition both helicopter and fixed wing can be equipped to relay production and technical talkback over the courses and, additionally, the facility to relay camera paint and tally data to the mobile/on course cameras. Please note however, helicopter relay systems may be restricted by size and weight so there are limitations on the quantity of relay equipment installed in one machine.
The major advantage of using a pressurised fixed wing aircraft over helicopter relays for long distance live events is immunity to weather and the demands of air traffic control. With the ability to operate in virtually any weather conditions and the anticipated operational altitude of around 20,000ft the aircraft will be clear of any low-level adverse weather and the demands of busy air-space thus ensuring the RF relay performance. The on-task flying duration of the selected aircraft is in excess of 10 hours providing more than sufficient duration for any event.
The fixed wing aircraft is equipped with GPS steered/tracked antennas for the video links thus ensuring the best possible performance. Similarly the OB ground receive antennas for the aircraft can also be GPS tracked, two of this type of antenna are employed, for reliability and diversity, although only one is actually required.
