In preparation for the Premier League of Darts, Broadcast RF flew to Hamburg in Germany with 2x HD Radio Camera Systems to cover the World Cup of Darts, which took place for the second time.
This year was a special occasion as we saw England win the World Cup for the first time. Adrian Lewis alongside his captain Phil Taylor beat Australia’s Simon Whitlock and Paul Nicholson after what ended to be a dramatic final. The final looked like it would be over by early evening as the England men made a good, strong start.
The final started off with Taylor beating Nicholson 7-4 in match one, followed by Lewis beating Whitlock 7-6, making this Whitlock’s first defeat of the weekend. Taylor then made Whitlock’s evening a whole lot worse, by then beating him 7-5 and putting England just one match away from World Cup victory. It started to look worse for England when Nicholson beat Taylor 7-4 forcing the match to a deciding pairs game.
At the end of the deciders game Whitlock and Nichols ended up with a 7-4 win, leveling it out to 3-3. The match then came down to a single shootout. Nerves got to both teams with all players except Lewis, missed darts for victory, with Lewis’s final shot leaving England triumphant and World Cup winners
