The UCI Track Cycling World Championships are back, returning this year to The Netherlands’ Omnisport Apeldoorn for the first time since March 2011.
Taking place over 5 days between Wednesday 28th February and Saturday 3rd March 2018, this competition provided the first opportunity in 2018 for the VeloVue Track, Broadcast RF’s very own live onboard HD RF camera system, to be used on the world stage.
A total of ten different events are competed in at the UCI Track Cycling World Championships, including the Time Trial, Keirin, Individual Pursuit, Team Pursuit, Points Race, Scratch Race, Sprint, Team Sprint, Omnium and Madison. This year The Netherlands topped the medal table with a total of 12, double that of Germany, Great Britain and Australia who each claimed 6.
Four VeloVue Track systems were deployed, each consisting of a full HD camera and wireless transmitter that is small and lightweight enough to be mounted on a bicycle without having an impact on the rider, bringing a new perspective to the sport that is otherwise unachievable.
